Feature Friday: MIC. HARGROVE

Hailing from Grenada, MS, senior Audio Engineering Technology major Michael Hargrove is a producer, engineer, songwriter, and hip-hop artist. He goes by the stage name of MIC. HARGROVE, a metaphorical play on his first name and his career field (and seemingly in all caps to fit his larger-than-life personality). In his own words from his “elevator” pitch: “MIC. HARGROVE is a progressive artist from Mississippi focused on reestablishing the roots of Hip Hop in order to encourage and inspire future generations.”

Below, MIC. tells us about his experiences at the DMI, as well as some plans for his future.

Currently, MIC. is serving as the Vice President of A&R for Fighting Okra Records (F.O.R.), leading a team of four and acting as the producer for the upcoming release by F.O.R.’s 2015-16 artist, Audri. He constantly collaborates with other musicians in and out of the DMI, performs regularly, and produces his own showcases. He’s even performing in a showcase at this year’s South By Southwest festival in Austin, TX.

Check out MIC.’s social media sites, as well as his music video for “I Know I Know” and his “Senior Year” series, both of which premiered this semester.
